Farewell and RIP Dear Mother

Ruth Rita Neveu Romero Guillory was born in Lake Charles Louisiana on November 2, 1925. She was the daughter of Nick Romero and Elizabeth Emma Neveu. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School and enjoyed singing, dancing and playing cards in her youth. She met Henry Guillory in 1945 at a card party. They married after WW2 in 1946 and moved west. She lived in Santa Cruz and San Francisco for over 40 years where she raised five children and mothered countless others. She was active at St. Pauls Catholic church community and was a scout mother several times over. She loved gardening, and plants and she cooked a delicious gumbo. She was known for her warmth, her smiles, her laughter and her caring nature. Her kids' friends often called her mom and everyone was always welcome under her wing. In recent years she lit up the rooms at various senior centers in Virginia, the Bay Area and Washington State. She is preceded in death by her husband Henry, her sister, Coressa Romero Lede and her brother, Nick Romero Jr. She is survived by her five children, Mark, Patrick, Phillip, Bonnie and Anne and their very supportive and helpful spouses. Friends, senior center staff and Sequoia Assisted Living in Olympia were a big part of her later years and were a great help and comfort to the family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren are her dynamic and beautiful legacy, she was very proud of each of them.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to a cause close to Ruth's heart:
